How the calculator works
Every number comes from the fields above and one rate from TikTok Shop's own seller help pages. For each product:
- TikTok Shop fee = fee rate × (selling price + shipping the customer pays). TikTok calls it the referral fee in the US and the commission fee in the UK, and both are charged on what the customer pays including shipping.
- Creator commission = commission rate × selling price.
- Your shipping and packing cost = your label and packaging per order, or the per-unit fee if the order ships through Fulfilled by TikTok. The FBT vs self-fulfillment guide explains which figure to use.
- Net profit per order = what the customer pays − TikTok fee − creator commission − product cost − your shipping − ad spend.
- Net margin = net profit ÷ what the customer pays.
- Break-even ad cost = profit before ads, the most one order can absorb in ad spend.
Platform discounts and sales tax change the exact base TikTok uses, so treat the result as a planning figure and reconcile it with your settlement statement in Seller Center. Refunds cost extra in the US: TikTok keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of the referral fee on each refunded item, capped at $5 per item.
The rates this calculator uses
These come from one shared table on this site, so every calculator and guide uses the same numbers. Each links to the TikTok Shop page it was read from.
-
Charged on customer payment plus platform discount minus tax, which includes shipping the customer pays.
-
5% US, fine jewelry (diamond, gold, jade, platinum, ruby, sapphire, emerald)
Five Jewelry Accessories & Derivatives subcategories. Other jewelry pays the standard rate.
-
3% on the part of a single sale above $10,000.
-
9% UK, standard commission (VAT included)
Charged on net sales plus customer-paid shipping plus platform discount. Lower rates exist for new sellers, Electronics, some Beauty and Personal Care categories and Seller Missions.
-
5% UK, computers (TikTok's worked example)
TikTok's own commission example charges a computer at 5%. The full category list is in TikTok's spreadsheet on the same help page.
-
Your rate EU (Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Ireland): enter the rate in your Seller Center
TikTok's EU commission pages sit behind the seller login. Type the rate your Seller Center shows for your category.
-
20% US refund administration fee
20% of the referral fee on each refunded SKU, capped at $5 per SKU. Not charged on creator sample orders refunded under buy now, refund later.
What a healthy result looks like
A product whose break-even ad cost is lower than what you expect to pay per sale on ads cannot scale with paid traffic, however good it looks before ads. Raise the price, cut the landed cost, or rely on creators paid by commission. Comparing two products side by side usually makes the choice plain: the one with more room for ad spend is the one you can grow.
For the next step, the TikTok Shop fees guide explains each fee in detail, and the best TikTok Shop tools roundup covers the research tools that estimate a product's sales before you stock it.
